Morning Glory Bench and Chairs

Item #05011-05792

A cast-iron bench (05011) in the “Convulvus” or “Morning Glory” pattern, American, ca. 1880. 33.5 ins. high, 61.5 ins. wide, approximately 26 ins. deep (front to back). Shown with (05792) a pair of cast-iron chairs in the same “Morning Glory” pattern, American, ca. 1900. 33 ins. high, 24 ins. wide, 21 ins. deep.

This pattern was first cast by Coalbrookdale around 1855 and was offered in America soon after in 1858 by Wood & Perot.

Barbara says, “Purely Victorian botanical taste with vines entwined almost everywhere—it’s a classic example of the exuberance of mid-19th-century taste while celebrating the dexterity of their cast-iron makers”.
